From the recommendations in BACCC’s Options for Travel report, which would be your top priority to enact to ensure safe, reliable, convenient and equitable transportation options?

Study and implement more well timed and better scheduled buses to start the process of adding LRT to our system. While it is important to improve service downtown, let’s not forget about the Mountain where a good portion of people live and most drive because of the dismal service here.

If environmentally friendly transportation options are not convenient, residents will be less likely to choose those options over driving.
What steps would you take to ensure environmentally friendly transportation options are convenient?

Implement the BLAST system as soon as possible, and reroute buses to service the entire city. Have more hubs, where there are better transfers and make transfers easier by changing scheduling so users are not left stranded, and make routes shorter so the wait times are not as long. Do a study of bus stops to see which are used more than others. Give buses signal priority on the most used routes. Make it easier for people to use Presto by being able to top up at more places. Be sure the bus app always updates in real time.

Environmentally friendly transportation needs to be perceived as safe in order to be viewed as a viable option.
What steps would you take to ensure all users feel safe when using all transportation methods?

Have more shelters that have 360 degree vision for users, that are made with graffiti and shatter resistant material. All stops should be clean and well lit, and in high traffic areas there should be bollards to protect riders from accidents.
